The Pit Bike summer Series returned back home to TV Land in Pierpont, Ohio on August 6,
2005 after two rounds out on the road. A beautiful day brought out the biggest crowd of racers to
date with over fifty competitors signed up. The facility was really looking good in preparation of
the next day’s first ever CRA sanction event.
The Women’s Class made a return once again with Danielle Litwiler sweeping both motos.
Steph Vines finished second and Kim Vangieson took third in both heats.
In the 50cc Production Class Shawn Brink won the first moto with Jason Hermann second and
Eric Searles third. The second moto had a little shuffling around of positions as Hermann got the
win with Brink second and Dale Reese third. His second moto win gave Hermann the overall
with Brink second and Reese taking third.
The 50cc Open Class was up next, Aaron Smith was victorious in the first moto with
Production Class winner Jason Hermann second and Jimmy Woodford third. Smith would also
win the second moto with Herman on his tail but this time Erik Kulasa got third. Two moto wins
gives the overall to Smith, Jason Herman took second and Kulasa rounded out the podium.
Midsize Production came to the line with point leader and still undefeated Trevor Vines
looking for another win. He got it, easily defeating John Woodford and Lance Warheit. As it
always seems to happen, sooner or later your luck will run out and that is what happened to
Vines in moto two. While out in front with an early lead, Vines suffered the unthinkable, he got a
flat rear tire. A four dollar inner tube did what twenty some other riders couldn’t do on their own,
stop Trevor Vines. Vines got a DNF for moto two giving him seventh overall. With Vines out,
the fight for the moto win was on, John Woodford came out on top beating Bob Marley and
Brian Lepley. With finishes of two and one, John Woodford stood on top of the stand with Bob
Marley second and Brian Lepley third.
Some new faces showed up in the Midsize Open Class. Josh Powell, normally a name heard in
the Midsize Production Class moved up and did pretty good. Dustin Charcalla and Matt
Mckeown both showed up on BBR perimeter framed “110s” ready to do battle. The win was up
for grabs for this class of new comers. Charcalla took the first moto win with Powell and Chris
Williams in third. Moto two had a new winner as Josh Powell got by Charcalla and took the win.
Williams again finished third. As always second is as good as first in moto one and Powell took
the overall with his finishes of two-one. Charcalla took second and Williams third.
The clutch Class was a repeat of just about every other week. P.J. Dylewski, of course won
both motos, Brian George took second and Dan Nowakowski third. Dylewski has been beat
before, but that has been quite some time ago, time for George to step it up again.
Round eight is back on the road as we head over to Street, Track ‘N Trail in Conneaut Lake,
PA on August 13th. With only two rounds remaining look for some good battles with riders
trying to get every point that they can.
